Awards icing on the cake for Britain in Bloom groups

Awards icing on the cake for Britain in Bloom groups

If you are part of a Britain in Bloom group, you will be able to see the positive changes and benefits that have come from taking part all around you. As a result of your efforts you might have seen a significant decrease in littering or added a number of stunning floral displays.

Whatever it is that you are most proud of, your group has helped to improve, enhance and maintain your local environment. There is no award that can match the benefits that have come from your group’s work, but like most things in life there do have to be some ‘winners’, even in the supportive arena of the Britain in Bloom competition.

The results of Britain in Bloom 2017 were announced at the Royal Horticultural Society’s award ceremony on October 27th. Amongst the winners were Elswick in Bloom, from Lancashire, who were awarded the top prize of ‘Champion of Champions’ in the 53rd year of the UK-wide gardening competition. You can see the full list of winners here.

Amberol customers celebrate Britain in Bloom success

At Amberol we work with competition entrants all over the country, from small community groups to large councils supplying self-watering planters and litter bins to help keep Britain beautiful. As always, we were impressed by the dedication, talent and commitment that we saw in 2017. Many of our customers did well again this year – follow our Facebook page to keep up to date with some success stories over the coming weeks.

We don’t have the space to mention everyone here, but we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone that took part in this year’s competition as well as our own customers.
Some Amberol success stories include Farnham in Bloom who won their very first Gold award at Britain in Bloom. They were named joint winner of the Large Town category and Kevin Taitt, manager of the outside services team, was also presented with a Community Champion award for his professional expertise in helping volunteers and for winning many accolades in local Bloom competitions – a very successful evening all round!

If you have a Britain in Bloom success story to share, we’d love to hear it! Just email info@amberol.co.uk.

And of course, winning an award is only the icing on the cake for groups.  The contribution that they make to their community and the improvements they make are what the entrants should be most proud of.
