Britain in Bloom judges coming to a town near you now!

It’s the culmination of months, possibly years, of hard work and planning as the annual 16 day Britain in Bloom judging tour rolls out across the UK.

Commencing on Friday 29th July, 11 judging teams are assessing more than 5,000 acres of public green space in 72 locations. We have no doubt that they will see many wonderful sights on their tours and wish all the hard working participants lots of luck.

Results will be announced on 14th October when each finalist will be awarded a Gold, Silver-Gilt, Silver or Bronze medal. The ultimate Champion of Champions award is being contested by Birmingham, Cleethorpes, Durham, Lytham and St Pierre du Bois in Guernsey. 2016 also marks the introduction of a new award for communities working to improve their environment in the face of adversity - from flooding to extreme heat and vandalism.

At Amberol we are big supporters of the competition and work with councils, community groups and businesses across Britain to help support their entry with our self-watering planters, litter bins and graffiti resistant plastic benches. All our products are made from recyclable polyethylene (apart from our benches which are made from polythene) and so tick the eco-friendly box - making them popular with the judges.

Judging panel chair Roger Burnett said: "Britain in Bloom is a real movement for good that is transforming neighbourhoods, creating communities and bringing the many health and wellbeing benefits of gardening to increasing numbers of people from every walk of life.

"The RHS Britain in Bloom finals is an opportunity to celebrate the tens of thousands of often unheralded volunteers who readily give up their time to improve their local environment. My fellow judges and I are immensely proud to be able to see the fruits of their labour and celebrate the work they do."

According to RHS research, Britain in Bloom groups have planted more than 10m trees, bulbs and other plants over the past year, with volunteers giving up 11.7m hours of their time to help improve their communities.
