In a joint celebration of the new Sheffield Connect Bus last year, over 30 colourful Amberol self-watering Giant Precinct Planters were filled with beautiful flowers, to make an impact along the new bus route in the heart of the city outside the historic Town Hall, Surrey Street and Pinstone Street.
The colourful Giant Precinct Planters by Amberol are manufactured in the UK and made from recyclable polyethylene that can last for decades, making them an environmentally friendly choice for creating beautiful floral displays. These circular floor standing planters can hold up to 710 litres of soil to display flowers, shrubs, or small trees.

Environmental responsibility
To ensure these planters are a sustainable choice, they feature a unique AquafeedTM self-watering system that Amberol pioneered and developed to save water resources while keeping plants healthy and strong for longer. The AquafeedTM system has a series of high-capacity capillary action wicks to ‘suck’ water up from a sub-soil water reservoir onto a dispersal mat. The dispersal matting ensures the water is distributed evenly to the compost overlaying it, always keeping it optimally moist. These planters only need to be topped up once or twice a week. To avoid over watering, the system has overflow holes just above the dispersal matting base so excess water can escape.
