Amberol help SLCC celebrate 50 years at annual conference

As long term suppliers of many councils and local authorities across the UK, the sales team at Amberol is delighted to be out and about again in November at an important annual event for local government staff and suppliers.

Following the team’s visits to many of the Britain in Bloom regional awards during September and October, we will be heading to Leicestershire for the Society of Local Council Clerks (SLCC) National Conference, which is being held at the Hinckley Island Hotel on 2nd and 3rd November.

Addressing climate change issues

2022 is an important year for the SLCC as they celebrate their 50th anniversary. The event includes exhibitions and talks, as well as a special anniversary black-tie dinner on the evening of 2nd November.

With the theme of climate change topping the agenda, speakers at the conference include well-known explorer and TV presenter, Ben Fogle. In addition to writing nine bestselling books, Ben is also the United Nations Patron of the Wilderness; his adventures include climbing Mount Everest, rowing across the Atlantic and racing across Antarctica to the South Pole.

Ben will be joined by Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, one of the UK’s most successful Paralympians who won 11 gold medals in five Paralympic Games as well as winning the London Wheelchair Marathon five times. Tanni is also a board member of the London Marathon, the Sportsaid Foundation, the Duke of Edinburgh Awards and Join In.

Five decades of history

The SLCC was founded in 1972 starting with just 50 members. The organisation has grown significantly over the last five decades, and now represents clerks at over 5,000 councils in England and Wales.

Amberol has attended the annual SLCC conference many times in the past, and Amberol’s Commercial Manager Steven Parker is excited to be in attendance at the special 50th anniversary event.

“Exhibitions are about so much more than just demonstrating our products,” he comments. “They also present an invaluable opportunity to connect with customers and potential customers, allowing them to ask questions and see our products first hand, and enabling us to find out what their specific needs are. We have missed that face-to-face contact over the last two and a half years and very much hope that people will stop by for a chat with us at stand 28.”

An eco-friendly solution

Amberol will be exhibiting samples from their bestselling ranges of litter bins, and self-watering planters including the Amphora Precinct Planter, Olympic Dual Bin and the Leafield Heritage Bin.

Steve comments: “Our products are popular with local authorities because of their quality and durability which ensures that they offer value for money – an essential factor for councils in these times of tightly-stretched budgets.”

Amberol products also have great eco credentials. All our black bins and planters, benches and picnic tables are made from recycled polyethylene. All products can also be recycled at the end of their long lifespan. And of course, our self-watering planters are a great way of conserving water at the same time as reducing maintenance time and costs.
