Congratulations to Amberol customers at regional Britain in Bloom awards
With the regional Britain in Bloom awards season getting into full swing, we have been delighted to see so many Amberol customers being rewarded for their hard work. There’s too many to mention you all here, so here’s a little snapshot…..
Topping the Premier League with Amberol
At the Heart of England in Bloom awards, judges commended former Champion of Champions Shrewsbury in Bloom, awarding a Gold and describing the town as being in the "Premier League of floral towns" despite dealing with funding cuts.
The judges commented: "The town fully embraces the Bloom ethos and is able to blend horticultural excellence with far reaching environmental quality – they respect the great heritage of the town but are able to keep up with becoming a town fit for the modern age providing a quality of life that is the envy of others."
Judges also praised the 770+ containers that are located around the town, many of them Amberol self-watering planters. Town clerk Helen Ball really hit the nail on the head when she commented: "Bloom isn't just about flowers – it is about the communities” - a sentiment that we wholeheartedly endorse at Amberol.
Self-watering planters brighten Derry City for visitors
In Northern Ireland, another Amberol customer Derry City was celebrating claiming the top prize in the City category of the 2017 Translink Ulster in Bloom awards. Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Maolíosa McHugh, congratulated everyone involved in helping Derry retain the title. She said: “The floral displays and plants around the council area have looked resplendent this year, providing a bright and welcoming backdrop for visitors and adding to local people’s sense of civic pride. The council’s plant and floral presentations, grass cutting and cleansing regimes are also a key element to the physical and environmental regeneration of our region set out in our community plan.”
Closer to home at the East Midlands in Bloom awards, Amberol customers Draycott in Bloom won Gold in their category of Small Town with Belper winning Gold and the Large Town category. Draycott deserve a special mention, having only been set up in 2014 after a successful entry into the 'It's Your Neighbourhood’ competition in 2013.
Britain in Bloom – it’s all about dedication
“We love awards season here at Amberol when everyone gets rewarded for their hard work and dedication. It may be a competition but in our experience, In Bloomers are usually tremendously supportive of one another,” comments Amberol’s MD Patience Atkinson-Gregory. “We like to think that our self-watering planters play an important part in our customers’ success – but of course it is ultimately about their effort and commitment.”
With their water-conserving technology, Amberol’s self-watering planters are popular with judges who are looking for evidence of commitment to good environmental practice. Made from recyclable polyethylene, our self-watering planters have the durability and longevity necessary to Britain in Bloom groups and councils as well as fulfilling sustainability requirements.
