Visit your local park in Love Parks Week

The Love Parks campaign is running its annual Love Parks Week once again. The event is designed to promote and celebrate the parks and public spaces that we are fortunate enough to have access to across the UK.

Now in its 9th year, the celebration runs from Friday 24th July to Sunday 2nd August and will involve hundreds of different events and activities - from open air theatre to garden parties at green spaces of all shapes and sizes.

“We are really excited about the hundreds of events that are being organised all around the country to celebrate Love Parks Week,” says Love Park’s manager Anthea Thomas. “And we would like to thank all the community groups, councils and members of the public who have embraced and supported the Love Parks campaign.”

The initiative is also being supported by the Parks Alliance, an organisation which works to protect and maintain the country’s public parks for future generations. The Alliance also works to promote the importance of green spaces and public places among politicians and policy makers.

Approximately 2.6 billion visits are made to Britain’s parks each year but park managers have struggled with funding over recent years in the face of budget cuts. In fact, spending on parks is predicted to be reduced by 60 per cent by 2020.

Amberol’s MD Patience Atkinson-Gregory is a keen supporter of the Love Parks initiative. “We are fortunate to have some wonderful public spaces in the UK which professional landscapers and volunteers help to maintain, and any event which helps to promote their importance within the community is worth supporting,” she comments. “We work with councils and groundstaff across the UK to help keep our public spaces beautiful through the use of self-watering containers to reduce maintenance as well as the use of a range of litter bins to help keep spaces clean and tidy. If you have an event running near you this week, we’d urge you to go along and support your local park – it is such a valuable amenity for all ages.”
