RHS’ Britain in Bloom is a nationwide campaign that runs annually to encourage community gardening in Britain’s cities, towns and villages. For over 40 years we’ve worked with councils, gardening groups, schools and a wide range of other urban and rural community organisations in their bid for Gold! With the campaign focusing on achievements in environmental responsibility, community participation as well as horticultural skills our range of products and first hand experience make us the ideal partner for your submission.
Supplying planters and street furniture to Britain in Bloom entrants for over 40 years
Our tips for Britain in Bloom entries:
Creating a cleaner, greener & safer environment - Judges will be looking at the overall quality of the environment which not only includes your wonderful floral arrangements but also reduction in litter, dog-fouling and graffiti - so make sure these issues are addressed and actioned.
Environmental responsibility - you should demonstrate that you have considered all aspects of the sustainability and environmental impact of your submission. This could include water conservation through self-watering planters, encouraging people to recycle through innovative anti litter campaigns and the use of recyclable products.
Making maintenance manageable - Any volunteer-led entry requires a significant commitment of time and effort. Planning is essential and solutions such as self-watering containers and hanging baskets (which only need watering once a week even during the hottest of summers) will make a significant impact in the time, costs and water!

Self watering planters for manageable displays
Our unique ‘Aquafeed’ self-watering system will keep your plants alive and healthy for longer. This efficient system ensures that you need not water every day, not even in the height of summer - saving you precious time and money! Our range of planters, including hanging baskets (that don’t leak!), up-the-pole baskets, window baskets and larger floor standing planters offer you the flexibility you need to create an amazing city-wide scheme. Containers in particular come in all shapes and sizes and offer you more flexibility than a traditional bed, these self watering planters can be easily moved to key landmarks in your town meaning that you can achieve the impact you’re looking for wherever you need it!

Environmentally friendly street furniture
It’s not just about the plants. Look at your street furniture: where is it positioned? What is it made of? With sustainability forming an important part of the judging criteria, it could help your entry (and your budget) to invest in street furniture made of recycled materials such as the Plaswood range of benches and tables made from recycled polythene. Tough, durable and strong - our seating products are a great alternative to traditional wooden items. The beauty of the material is that it will not crack or dry out, they are splinter free and resistant to attack by insects. Due to it’s surface, Plaswood is also more resistant to graffiti. Our seating products can be used safely and securely in any park, garden, town centre, school, leisure or play area.
