Winners of Amberol’s photo competition announced
With snowdrops, daffodils and crocuses in full bloom, the welcome signs and colours of spring are all around us. So, now seems like a perfect time to announce the winner of Amberol’s latest photo competition.
Entries included stunning floral scenes from the summer of 2021, as well as healthy displays blooming well into the autumn months and forward-looking spring planting. With over 30 entries to choose from, the winner was once again selected by voting on social media.
Showcasing oval self-watering planters
The victor, winning £200 worth of vouchers to spend on Amberol products with a total of 423 votes came from Sandown Green Town Volunteers on the Isle of Wight. The winning photo showed Amberol’s oval planters still looking bloomin’ fantastic in mid-October prior to the planned winter plant up. The entry also received messages of support, appreciation and admiration via social media, including compliments on the attractive planting colour scheme as well as thanks from Sandown residents for the group’s efforts in keeping the town looking good.
The oval planters were placed on the town’s High Street in the summer of 2021 and obviously made an impact with people commenting on Facebook about how they brightened up the area. The town was awarded Gold in Britain in Bloom last year and has also been selected to compete in the Coastal Town category of Britain in Bloom 2022, so we wish them good luck with that. And now, the group will also have £200 worth of vouchers to spend on Amberol products to help them in their bid for victory.
Keeping Scotland Beautiful
The second and third most popular photos in the competition were both submitted by Lauder in Bloom in Berwickshire. One photo showed a colourful row of Amberol’s self-watering hanging baskets located at Philiphaugh Gardens which are all maintained by volunteers. The other photo showed hanging baskets in full bloom outside a village coffee shop.
Lauder in Bloom is another active In Bloom group, winning a Gold award in the 2021 Keep Scotland Beautiful competition as well as gaining an award for sustainability measures which included conserving water.
Celebrating our communities
The standard of entries was very high as usual and included beautiful photos of a wide range of Amberol self-watering planters showcasing their versatility, including up the pole and barrier baskets as well as tiered, barrel and stone effect planters.

How to enter the Amberol photo competition
The winner of Amberol’s quarterly photo competition is chosen by voting on social media so it’s quick, easy and free to have your say. Voting is open to anyone via the pinned post on our Facebook page.
To enter, just submit any image past or present that you have of Amberol’s self-watering planters via the online form on the website. Your photo will then be entered into the public vote with the chance to win £200 of Amberol vouchers.
