At Amberol we are always happy to hear what our customers are up to - and this good news story we came across recently really made our day.
As many of our customers know, we run an annual customer survey to ensure that we are maintaining high service levels and to request any feedback that people may have for improvement. As a thank you for taking the time to take part we offer a prize draw for respondents. This year’s winner was Middleton-In Bloom, based in Middleton-in-Teesdale in County Durham.
And so, we were delighted to see a story recently in local paper the Teesdale Mercury showing how they had used their prize draw vouchers for the good of the community, purchasing one of our most iconic products: the Percy Penguin litter bin.
Percy and our other animals in the range, which includes Ambere the bear bin and the Amberol chick bin, are always very popular with children – and many adults. Middleton-in-Bloom decided to buy a new Percy litter bin for the local children’s playground, which according to the Teesdale Mercury “has proved to be a big hit”.
Percy was installed at his new home in Wesley Terrace Play Park in May. Middleton-in-Bloom already has many Amberol self-watering planters and so decided to look at other products with their prize money.
Pam Phillips of Middleton-in-Bloom comments: “We have plenty of planters in the village, so we suggested the bin to the parish council, and they agreed to pay the difference.” The play area has recently installed new equipment following a fundraising drive and the Percy bin makes a great addition to the new equipment. Pam adds: “The mums who did all the fundraising to get the new equipment have done a fantastic job and you can see by the number of children enjoying the play area what a success it has been.”
Middleton-in-Bloom, which consists of a small group of regular volunteers, meet every Monday and have been active during 2021, preparing for their entry into Northumbria in Bloom after the regional and national competitions were suspended during 2020. The group has had several successful entries in the competition since setting up in 2017..
Amberol’s managing director Patience Atkinson-Gregory is delighted to see the survey prize money being put to good use. “Children have really missed out on physical activity and play during the Covid restrictions and so it’s lovely to see Middleton-in-Bloom making this contribution, supported by their parish council,” she comments. “We often hear from customers how popular our animal bins are with children who love popping their litter into the bins’ beaks and mouths.”
Amberol’s animal bins can be found in playgrounds, parks, shopping centres and public spaces across the UK. In fact, Percy has made it as far as Australia. The bins are well loved for their bright, fun appearance but they also function very efficiently as litter bins with a range of great features including:
