Going for Gold – your chance to win one of Amberol’s bestselling self-watering planters

Going for Gold – your chance to win one of Amberol’s bestselling self-watering planters

To celebrate Amberol’s 50th anniversary this year, we are going for gold – and giving the eagle-eyed amongst you the chance to win one of Amberol’s most popular self-watering products at the same time.

The famous fictional character Willy Wonka distributed golden tickets offering people a chance to win a visit to his magical chocolate factory. Here at Amberol, we are creating special golden stickers which will be placed on selected self-watering planters around the UK. While we can’t promise that you will meet an Oompa Loompa, if you spot one of the special golden stickers and send it to us, you will receive a great prize: one of Amberol’s bestselling planters – a self-watering stone effect trough.

How to enter the golden sticker competition

There will be a total of ten golden stickers placed on Amberol planters around the country. The stickers will be the same as the traditional Amberol black and white address labels as seen below - but gold in colour to mark our special 50-year anniversary.

Golden label

If you are lucky enough to spot a golden sticker, you need to remove it and send it to Amberol. You also need to tell us:

  1. Your name and contact details
  2. Where you found the sticker
  3. When you found it

Then send the golden sticker to this address:

Amberol Ltd – Golden Stickers
The Plantation
King Street
DE55 7TT

Once verified, the lucky winners will receive a stone trough (worth over £200) as their prize. They will also be invited to Amberol’s very special 50th birthday celebration in October (more details to follow later in the year).

The Amberol heritage range of self-watering planters

The Amberol stone trough is one of our newer products, and also a personal favourite of our MD Patience Atkinson-Gregory. Part of the heritage range, the stone trough was modelled on an authentic 200-year old granite trough - but weighs a fraction of the real thing, making it a robust, portable and flexible option. Designed to create a classic, historic feel, the stone trough perfectly complements our range of self-watering barrels (moulded from genuine whiskey barrels) as well as other items in Amberol’s self-watering planter range. Items in the heritage range are perfect for stately homes and historic buildings as well as parks and town centres.

Aquafeed technology explained

The Amberol stone trough, like all our self-watering planters, has the Aquafeed™ self-watering system, pioneered by Amberol built in. The secret of our self-watering capacity, the Aquafeed ™ system consists of a series of high capacity capillary action wicks that ‘suck’ up water from a sub soil reservoir onto a dispersal mat. Water is dispersed only as required by the plant, ensuring optimal growing conditions and reducing the need to watering to once or at most, twice a week.
