Handy guides to container gardening

We are big fans of container gardening here at Amberol – for obvious reasons. We are often amazed at the ingenuity of people using our self-watering planters in the displays that we see travelling around the country.

One of the best features of container gardening is the versatility it offers – you can grow almost anything: flowers, vegetables, fruit, shrubs - even trees in the right planter. They are also ideal for smaller spaces and enable people who don’t have access to a large garden or outdoor space to try out their green fingers too.

Having written our own guide How to Excel in Britain in Bloom with 50 tips on using self-watering planters for Britain in Bloom groups, we were interested to see another handy guide to using containers on the internet.

A Field Guide to Container Gardening was written by freelance editor and writer Jackie Edwards,  inspired by Jackie’s own experience of working in horticulture and creating a ‘gardener’s haven’ of  flowers, fruit and vegetables on her apartment balcony. Click here to read Jackie’s guide which explains some of the advantages that container gardening has over traditional flower beds, as well as offering useful tips and advice.

Not only do Amberol’s self-watering planters create optimum growing conditions for a whole range of plants, including flowers, fruit and vegetables, they are impossible to over water and don’t require DIY drainage holes like many containers on the market.

From tiered planters, to hanging baskets to stone effect troughs and wood effect barrels, Amberol has the right self-watering planter for your needs. Call us on 01773 830 930 or email sales@amberol.co.uk to find out more.
