At Amberol we are often in awe of the hard work and dedication of the Britain in Bloom groups that we encounter across the UK. We think that they all deserve an award for the effort they put into making the cities, towns and villages of Britain better places to be.
However, it is a competition and so not everyone can receive an accolade, but we are always particularly pleased to hear about our customers’ successes at regional and national level.
So, we were delighted to hear that long time Amberol customer and 2014 Champion of Champions Shrewsbury in Bloom had scooped a Gold award at the 2016 Heart of England in Bloom presentation. After a year’s hiatus, Shrewsbury achieved Gold in the Small City and Large Park categories, as well as a Horticultural Excellence Award for The Dingle, a sunken garden in Quarry Park.
Judges visited the town on 27th July when hundreds of floral hanging baskets, planters and containers, including many supplied by Amberol, were displayed throughout the town.
Councillor Keith Roberts, chairman of the Shrewsbury in Bloom committee said: “This is once again a fantastic result for Shrewsbury and a testament to all the hard work by the town council’s horticultural team, as well as members of the Bloom committee which includes community volunteers and council officers from both the town and unitary authorities. We are absolutely delighted to have achieved Gold standard once again, maintaining Shrewsbury’s enviable reputation as the Town of Flowers.”
Amberol products formed an important part of Shrewsbury in Bloom’s competition entry and are used extensively across the town centre to help create their award-winning floral displays. We also developed our new range of larger self-watering barrel planters especially in response to a request from Shrewsbury. Many of the planters that the group buy are supported by local businesses, with a scheme which offers four different levels of sponsorship to involve the community and to help with funding.
