Reliving the glories of summer: the winner of Amberol’s summer 2021 photo competition is announced

Reliving the glories of summer: the winner of Amberol’s summer 2021 photo competition is announced

The summer of 2021 may be drawing to a close, but autumn can be one of the most beautiful times of the year as the trees are awash with swathes of golden foliage and summer bedding plants remain in full bloom all over parks, urban centres and villages.

So, we are delighted to remind you that Amberol’s photo competition now runs all year round. This means that you can enter any current seasonal photos, or any images from summer 2021 displays. Images can be entered in minutes via our website and your entry can be promoted via your social media channels to encourage community support in the vote.

The first prize goes to…..

We are also delighted to announce the winners of Amberol’s summer season photo competition.

The first placed photo, with an impressive 128 votes came from Lorraine Mackay of Golspie in Bloom in Scotland. This great entry was particularly interesting as it showed the life cycle of an Amberol hanging basket – from planting up through to blooming in situ. Our hanging baskets are particularly popular as they are easier to maintain than traditional hanging baskets which dry out much more quickly during the summer months.

Congratulations to Lorraine who wins £200 worth of Amberol vouchers to invest. Members of Golspie in Bloom were active in promoting the competition via Facebook and other channels, resulting in a winning margin of over 100 votes, proving that it helps to get your community behind your entry.

The second placed photograph also came from Scotland and was submitted by the Friends of Bridge of Allan who maintained a series of stunning floral planters in the Provost’s Park.

The third placed photo came from Cambridgeshire group March in Bloom. This image demonstrated how Amberol’s self-watering barrier baskets can create a stunning floral frontage along high streets and in shopping areas.

As always, the standard of entries was very impressive, featuring a wide range of self-watering planters from barrels to stone effect troughs to large octagonal freestanding planters. Although we have no say in voting, we always enjoy seeing the inventive ways that In Bloom groups, gardeners and horticulturalists are able to showcase our products with stunning floral displays.
