Announcing the winner of Amberol’s December photo competition

Announcing the winner of Amberol’s December photo competition

Amberol is delighted to announce that the winner of the autumn 2020 photo competition, and the first winner of our year-round, new style photo competition, is one of our overseas partners, Kulla.

Based in Bratislava in Slovakia, Kulla is a family run business like Amberol. The company plant up beautiful floral displays for local authorities across the country. The winning photo, which was taken in the small historic town of Svaty Jur, north east of Bratislava, showcased a stunning use of Up-the-Pole self-watering planters combined with a long row of metre squared self-watering planters.

Looking high and low

Planters that can be placed higher up such as Up-the Pole containers, barrier baskets and hanging baskets can help create a more visually interesting display by varying the eye line. Up-the-Pole baskets come in a range of styles including the Cup and Saucer Up-the-Pole basket as well as the Half Unit and New Shape baskets which have a maximum compost capacity of 50 litres and a depth of 31cm. Depth is important in enabling the establishment of healthy roots and for best results, it is advised that the baskets are densely planted.

Eva Rigin, sales manager at Kulla was delighted with the prize saying: “Winning the Amberol photo competition really made my day. It also made me very happy and proud of the work we do with our Amberol planters - making the cities, towns and villages of Slovakia more beautiful by creating bright floral displays.”

An exclusive partnership

Amberol and Kulla have been working in partnership since 2008, originally working with the parents of Michal Kulla, the company’s current MD. Kulla is a garden centre and landscaping business and is Amberol’s exclusive and official partner in Slovakia.

“We have a long standing relationship with Kulla, so it is lovely to see them succeed in the competition,” comments Amberol’s MD Patience Atkinson-Gregory. ”It is our policy to work with just one partner in each country to build strong, mutually beneficial relationships.”

The winner was chosen by voting on social media. Voting is open to anyone to via the pinned post on our Facebook page. Past and present photos can be viewed on our customer galleries all year round. It’s a great source of inspiration as well as being cheering to look at on a grey winter’s day!

Entry is easy

If you are interested in entering the next photo competition window, just submit any image past or present that you have of Amberol’s self-watering planters via the online form on the website. Your photo will then be entered into the public vote with the chance to win £200 of Amberol vouchers.
